Chain of Trust
What is a Chain of Trust?
A chain of trust is a sequence of certificates that link a website's SSL certificate to a trusted root certificate authority (CA). When a user visits a website, their browser checks the website's SSL certificate to verify that it is valid and has been issued by a trusted CA. If the certificate is valid, the browser will establish a secure connection to the website.
How does a Chain of Trust work?
When a website obtains an SSL certificate from a CA, the CA signs the certificate with its own digital signature. The CA's digital signature is then verified by the browser, which checks to see if the CA is trusted. If the CA is trusted, the browser will trust the website's SSL certificate and establish a secure connection.
