Emergency Officials Warn Of Potential Breach

Dam Failure Imminent: Evacuations Ordered in Nashville, Illinois

Emergency Officials Warn of Potential Breach

Residents Told to Leave Homes Immediately

Nashville, Illinois is on high alert as emergency officials have ordered evacuations for residents living near the city's reservoir dam, which is in imminent danger of breaching. According to the Washington County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), the immediate danger to those in the area has been managed, but residents are being urged to evacuate immediately.

The dam at the Nashville City Reservoir overtopped and flooded on Tuesday after days of heavy rainfall. The EMA issued an evacuation order for about 200 homes in the area, which is located about 45 miles southeast of St. Louis, Missouri.

The EMA is urging residents to follow the evacuation orders and to stay away from the flooded area. The dam is in a state of imminent failure, and if it breaches, it could cause significant flooding and damage to the surrounding area.

Emergency crews are on the scene and are working to mitigate the risk of a breach. However, residents are advised to err on the side of caution and to evacuate as soon as possible.
