Samantha Steele Ponder was born on December 11, 1985, in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from Central High School in Phoenix in 2004 and then attended the University of Arizona, where she earned a degree in journalism in 2009. While at the University of Arizona, she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and worked as a reporter for the student newspaper, The Daily Wildcat.
Career
After graduating from college, Ponder began her career as a sports reporter for Fox Sports Arizona. In 2012, she joined ESPN as a reporter and host for SportsCenter and College GameDay. In 2017, she was named the host of Sunday NFL Countdown, becoming the first woman to host the show.
